This Love Exalted has been confirmed to be on the Heroic Benchmark Wiki to be a Heroic Benchmark. Although these characters have too much corrupting factors, have too much moral agency issues, are insufficiently characterized, are purely innocent, have standard heroism or heavily fail the in-story standards that prevent them from standing out to be at least Inconsistently Admirable, they are still noble and heroic enough in their own right. Do not remove Love Exalteds from this category unless they have been removed from the Heroic Benchmark Wiki. Failure to following these rules will result in a block.
Additional Notice: Do not add this template unless the Love Exalted in question gets confirmed to be a Heroic Benchmark. Failure to comply will also result in a block.

If there's one thing that can make my reading time here any better, it's a nice, sweet cup of tea.
~ Yuri
Your cupcakes are the best cupcakes in the world. They go really well with my tea! And nothing that I do for the event will compare to that.
~ Yuri to Natsuki.

Yuri Yoshika, best shortened to Yuri, is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Natsuki), as well as the secondary antagonist of the 2017 visual novel, Doki Doki Literature Club!. Yuri is a shy and sophisticated shrinking violet who serves as one of the five members of the Literature Club, later replacing Sayori as the Vice-President in Act 2 onwards after she was deleted by Monika in Act 1.

Yuri joined the Literature Club out of her interest in fantasy and psychological horror novels. As of Act 2, she became the game's secondary antagonist, although she is not a villain in reality, just a victim.

Yuri and Natsuki are typically playing together and Yuri can occasionally abuse Natsuki, and vice versa, Natsuki can abuse Yuri too. However, Yuri thinks that Natsuki is perfect and that she is a good friend.

What Makes Her Love Exalted?[]

  • Yuri shows pristine loyalty and care for her friends. In particular, she worries about how Monika is slowly switching from a considerable and selfless leader to a more manipulative stalker throughout the course of the game, about how assertive Natsuki is, and about Sayori's depression.
    • She even gone far as opening up to the protagonist with genuinely romantic feelings for him.
    • Additionally, Yuri acts as the voice of reason of the Literature Club, like Sayori.
  • Although both characters are opposites from each other, Yuri genuinely desires to await a friendship with Natsuki and never wants to be her rival, despite the two having a heated conflict within their differing poetic techniques and other topics related to such.
  • She is too much of a tragic and mentally ill scapegoat, since she was once an innocent girl before Act 2, where she went to madness after Monika tampered with her code, using her timidity and insecurities for it, only for Yuri to eventually commit suicide by stabbing herself to death since she cannot handle nor control her own feelings much longer, thus dying slowly and painfully as a result of Monika intensifying her obsession. However, Yuri virtually redeems herself in Act 4.
    • Furthermore, Yuri has been used to isolation and having difficulty making and retaining friendships, as she tends to become too overbearing when it comes to her favourite hobbies and her classmates typically judge Yuri for her mannerisms, even during her childhood. That is until Natsuki came in to her childhood life and immediately became friends with her. This reaches a certain point where in the side story, Understanding, Yuri ends up sobbing, as she cannot handle the isolation and her social anxiety much longer, only to be embraced and reassured by Sayori.
  • She scolds Natsuki of her assertive attitude towards other people.
  • Yuri complements Natsuki of her talented baking skills and Monika of her talented skills on playing the piano, and praises the protagonist for having Sayori as his dearest childhood friend.
  • Yuri is a generous and giving person, exemplified by her giving a copy of Portrait of Markov to the protagonist and for bringing tea to the Literature Club to help soothe the mind and help remain focused during reading, as well as planning to buy Natsuki a new manga.
  • In DDLC! Plus, Yuri has relentlessly attempting to approach Natsuki for a friendship, even going as far as writing a letter for Natsuki in the side story, Reflection, with the assistance of Monika. This even reaches a certain point that in the sixth side story, Self-Love, Yuri points out that if anyone tried to hurt Natsuki, she would "unleash hell upon them," showing just how much Yuri shows pristine care and loyalty for Natsuki. Additionally, after Natsuki having cut off her former friends, who typically teased her and mocked her about her love for manga, she maintains a panic attack. Yuri assists Natsuki to calm down through slow breathing and the two become relaxed.
