Tuesday night's plastic corrosion awareness meeting was, I think, a big success, and we want to thank Mr. Spell for putting that on for us. Thank you, Mr. Spell.
~ Woody giving an announcement to his fellow friends.

Woody Pride, also known as Sheriff Woody, is the main protagonist of the Disney/Pixar's Toy Story franchise.

He is the main protagonist of the films and a supporting character in other media. He is Buzz Lightyear's former rival--turned #1 best friend, and Bo Peep's boyfriend. He is a pull-string cowboy doll who was on 1950s popular children's show called Woody's Roundup with Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete. Years after Woody's Roundup was cancelled, Woody became the favorite toy of a young boy named Andy Davis. As the favorite, he is also the leader of the other toys in Andy’s room with Buzz as his trusted right-hand man. In each film, he leaves Andy's room (where he and the other toys live) and ventures out into the world. After Andy grew up, Woody become one of the toys of a young girl named Bonnie Anderson.

In the films, short films, and the TV specials, he is voiced by Tom Hanks, who also portrayed Paul Edgecomb in The Green Mile.

What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]

  • Motivates Buzz into helping him escape Sid's house.
  • He orchestrates a plan to stop Buzz from blowing up with the help of Sid's toys, with said planning involving scaring Sid by sneakily getting out of his house, and then scaring him away by revealing that he and the other toys are alive.
  • Makes it to the back of Andy's moving truck, and then uses RC to then save Buzz and help him evade Sid's dog.
  • Upon the flame on his match going out, he then uses Buzz's helmet to reflect on the fuse of Sid's rocket that had been strapped to Buzz's back to then get to Andy's moving truck. He helps Buzz get back to Andy and was eventually willing to let Buzz take his place as his favorite toy. During the Christmas ending he reassured Buzz not to be worried until they heard Andy was getting a dog called Buster, whom Woody proceeds to befriend. Hence, he uses the dog as a mount to get to the Yard Sale to save Wheezy.
  • Has shown skills in stealth, such as when he was able to make his way over to Al and almost grabs his other arm, and was only stopped because the Prospector turned on the TV.
  • When Buzz and an old advert reminded him of his purpose as a toy, he came up with a better idea: them coming with him to be with Andy. He felt some sympathy for the Prospector when he revealed his tragic backstory where he was never bought or played with by a child and spent a lifetime on a dime-store shelf, watching every other toy be sold to their new owners, and helps him learn the true meaning of playtime. He saves Jessie from being shipped to Japan.
  • Reassured the other toys that they weren't being thrown away by pointing out that Andy had yet to discard them after all this time, trying to convince them that Andy was putting them in the attic, rather than throwing them out.
  • Managed to stealthily sneak out of Sunny Side Daycare using improvised methods, such as using a mini glider to fly across the playground and only failed to get back home due to harsh winds throwing him up into the air.
  • After finding out about the atrocities that Lotso committed, and the danger his friends were in, he snuck back into Sunny Side by hiding inside Bonnie's schoolbag. After escaping the incinerator, Woody convinces Hamm and Slinky to let go of their vengeful grudge against Lotso for leaving them to die in an incinerator, saying that he isn't worth the trouble. He writes a note convincing Andy to give all the toys to Bonnie so they can be played with and cherished instead of being left in the attic. He snuck into the attic box so that he could join his friends with Bonnie.
  • Conducted a rescue mission to get RC out from a roaring storm.
  • Helps Bonnie create Forky by sneaking into her backpack, and then stealthily giving her the supplies to do so.
  • Kept Forky from throwing himself in the trash and made sure Bonnie never lost him.
  • Went to look for, and eventually found Forky after he threw himself out of the back of Bonnie's campervan, and convinced him to go back to Bonnie using his trash analogy.
  • After meeting Bo Peep again, who has since willingly became a lost toy herself, he did his best to remind her the value of toy ownership again, which influenced her to manage her current lifestyle.
  • Despite his previous rivalry with Gabby Gabby and the Bensons, he never really hated them. When Woody heard about Gabby's motives, he willingly helps her in becoming an owned toy, alongside the Bensons and the other carnival toys, including her former archenemy Bo.
  • He motivated Duke Caboom, alongside Bo, to make the 40-foot jump by pointing out how he never gives never repeats the same stunt.
  • When Buzz tells him to stay with Bo and the rest of her friends, telling him Bonnie will be okay, he gives his sheriff badge to Jessie as the new leader of the toys. He compassionately hugs Buzz and Forky before bidding the rest of his friends greeting. He then stays by Bo's side in helping lost toys find owners.
  • While he was once a childish, selfish, and envious jerk, it is completely lost at this point.

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, Woody was originally going to be a villain in the Black Friday storyboard reel, where he had a markedly more distasteful personality; having the character of one whom had let his role as "leader" go to his head and had little compassion towards his peers, which is likely the inspiration for the character of Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear, who's instead a Hate Sink. If that story was kept as planned, Woody would've likely taken Lotso's place as a Hate Sink instead.
    • Even more ironic, early drafts about Lotso himself has him being portrayed more sympathetically than in his final product, with one key element being that he willingly pushed the red button that controls the trash compactor, thus saving Woody and Andy's other toys. If Lotso ever actually did that, then his Hate Sink status will naturally be affected, but it is unlikely that he'll be a Love Exalted, either, given his several crimes.
