I'm-a Wario, I'm-a gonna win!
~ Wario's famous catchphrase.

Wario is a major character in the Mario franchise.

He is best known as Mario's arch-rival, yet sometimes friend. He first appeared in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins for the Game Boy in 1992 where he was the main antagonist. He is also the main protagonist of both the Wario Land and WarioWare series.

Like Mario, Luigi, and Waluigi, he was voiced by Charles Martinet until 2022. However, in the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64 as well as Mario Kart: Super Circuit and in the first two Mario Party games, he was voiced by Thomas Spindler. As of WarioWare Move It, he is currently voiced by Kevin Afghani. In the US commercial for Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, he was voiced by the late James H. Sawyer Sr.

What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]

  • While he is an anti-heroic treasure hunter and a egotistical rival of Mario, most of his corrupting qualities are played very comedically and humorously that should still allow him to qualify for Love Exalted:
    • His jerkish and mischievous moments are funny and are usually met with comeuppance in the form of slapstick humor.
    • Every time he tries to get out of paying his friends for their work he always fails.
    • There are times where he occasionally does some heroic acts for selfless reasons.
  • In Wario Land 4, Wario puts his life in danger to save the black cat who had been aiding him, even going so far as to ensure she exits the pyramid safely before he does. He even gives the lost scientist in the ruins permission to utilize him as a launchpad for his own getaway.
  • He does not hesitate to help save Princess Peach in Super Mario 64 DS and seemingly does this with no ulterior motives. In the end, he even respectfully takes off his hat before the princess.
  • In the WarioWare games, he is very encouraging towards the player.
  • Treats Waluigi very well despite occasionally fighting with him.
  • Despite refusing to pay them, he is nice to his friends.
  • In WarioWare D.I.Y., as Wario Man he helps out random strangers by forcing open bathroom doors that won't open.
  • He vanquishes the Shake King, releasing Queen Merelda from captivity.
  • He frees Spritelings from the clutches of Black Jewel.
  • He prevents Terrormisu from robbing the world of its inhabitants of their souls.
  • He put a stop to the Shake King's terrifying reign in the Shake Dimension.
  • He returns to the game he created with his pals to rescue Red, Master Mantis, and Lulu after realizing they are still imprisoned there.
