~ Viola to Ellen in The Diary of Ellen. |
Viola is the final boss a.k.a the main antagonist of The Witch's House and the deuteragonist of The Witch's House: The Diary of Ellen.
She is an innocent girl who befriended Ellen, the witch of the wood. They became 'best friends' and in the day Ellen said she's going to die, Viola willingly agreed to exchange bodies to let Ellen live a normal life for a day even she knew it would be painful. The deal was sabotaged by Ellen, she tricked Viola into a mutilated body, while she stole her body. Throughout the game Viola attempted to defeat Ellen but she was tragically shot twice in the head by her father, whom she was trying to protect.
What Makes Her Loved Exalted?[]
- She is the kindest character in The Witch's House and is also the only character in The Witch's House who’s unambiguously good.
- She befriended and took care of a terminally ill Ellen who was all alone.
- She reassured Ellen that there are people in the world who love her in spite of her illness and swore always being there for her.
- She did whatever she can for her loved ones.
- She accepted her tragic fate and willingly allowed Ellen to live on in her body while she died in her place if it's meant Ellen can be truly happy with her father.
- After everything Ellen did to her, she still showed empathy and even wanted to redeem Ellen.
- Although she was responsible for killing Ellen multiple times, it was out of necessity since her father will be in danger from Ellen.
- She didn't give up chasing Ellen even in extreme pain and despair, which shows her love for her father even in her last moments.
- While The Witch's House’s story is dark and tragic, Viola's innocent nature brings a brighter tone to the story, like she thought Ellen could be the daughter of some noble foreigner or a princess for example.
Trivia[]
- Viola's name means "purple flower" and Ellen's name means "light" in Greek. This foreshadows the body swapping since Viola was a blond and Ellen's hair was purple.
- Yellow is the opposite of purple on the color wheel just like Viola is the opposite of Ellen.
