Tohru Sohma (née Honda) is the main protagonist of the Fruits Basket series. She is the love interest of Kyo Sohma and the mother of Hajime Sohma as well as two more unnamed children

She was voiced by Yui Horie (2001 version) and Manaka Iwami (2019 version) in the original Japanese version and Laura Bailey in the English dub for both.

What Makes Her Love Exalted?

• She's very caring and compassionate towards everyone around her; even Akito, a person who's disliked by almost the entirety of the Sohma family.
• Even when others wrong her, it doesn't take long for her to forgive them.
• She displays airheaded moments that are cute.
• When she faces moments of her own problems, she puts them aside to help others in need. In addition, she comforts those who are pain; physically, mentally, and emotionally.
• Due to her nurturing, this what makes her likeable and charismatic:
  • She was the one who encouraged, and eventually convinced, Kisa to come out of her shell and open up to others. This has led to Kisa becoming incredibly clingy towards and possessive of Tohru.
  • During her years in middle school, she became the first person to form a friendship with Hanajima who was a victim of extreme bullying to that point.
  • She's the only person who can easily bring out his nicer and protective side of the generally aggressive and arrogant Kyo. In fact, she soon became the main reason why Kyo learned how to control his temper and act more considerate and caring towards other people.
• She offers friendship to redeem Akito; as the two are not that much different.
• She ended up lifting the curse that plagued the Sohma family throughout the series.
