T'Challa, better known as Star-Lord, is a supporting protagonist in the series What If...?, and the titular protagonist in the episode What If...T'Challa became a Star-Lord?. He is a member of the Ravagers, a crime organization dedicated to helping many individuals across the galaxy.
He was voiced by the late Chadwick Boseman, who also portrayed his mainstream counterpart.
What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]
- While the mainstream Star-Lord still is quite admirable and heroic in his own right, T'Challa lacks the corrupting qualities that hinder him, instead being solely driven by his sense of justice and desire to change the world for the better.
- As a child, he was eager to explore into the unknown, despite his father warning him about the dangers otherwise.
- When the Ravagers accidentally picked him up instead of Peter Quill, he showed no fear and told them about adventurousness, something which Yondu noted.
- For twenty years, as a Ravager, he was able to convince his team to adopt a more compassionate approach, tending to steal only from the wealthy and donating it to the poor. Because of his benevolence, he was able to redeem villains from the Sacred Timeline like Taserface, Nebula, and even Thanos to abandon their previous agendas, and work together as a force for good. They are also shown to be much happier through T'Challa's guidance.
- When Korath joyously admires his deeds, T'Challa remains humble and claims he is "merely an ordinary junker". When Korath offers to spare with him, T'Challa accepts and encourages him to do his best.
- While he knocks Korath out, he feels remorseful about it and decides to recruit him into the Ravagers, redeeming him.
- Despite how dangerous the Black Order and the Collector is, when Nebula proposes stealing the Embers of Genesis from them, T'Challa accepts, both knowing they could help billions of people across millions of planets, greatly combating against hunger across the galaxy. T'Challa later manages to convince Yondu to get all the Ravagers to engage with the plan, showing how selfless and courageous he is.
- He expresses shock and anger to find out Yondu lied about Wakanda and his family being wiped out in a recording inside the Collector's collection.
- Upon being thrown in a cell with the rest of the Ravagers, while he did angrily slam Yondu into a wall and state he had no family, this was a heating up period, and T'Challa was in the right for his emotions.
- Upon being put inside an exhibition, when the Collector briefly fawns over him, T'Challa warns him on his crimes while still maintaining his integrity.
- When Carina frees him from Ebony Maw's bonds, T'Challa takes the time to thank her.
- When facing the Collector, he teams up and synergies very nicely with Yondu, and puts the past aside to defeat the kingpin.
- Upon escaping from Knowwhere, he takes Cosmo with him on the aircraft. On the way back to Wakanda, after Yondu apologizes for lying to him, T'Challa graciously accepts his apology and thanks him for showing him the galaxy.
- Introduces the Ravagers to his family back home as the family he has made for twenty years. This subverts his previous heating up period, showing how much he cares for the Ravagers.
- Upon hearing Ego causing trouble, T'Challa takes Peter Quill to safety, confronts Ego, and puts a stop to his schemes. T'Challa then recruits Quill to the Ravagers and teaches him how to use weaponry before he gets selected by the Watcher to stop Infinity Ultron.
- When Strange Supreme has difficulty proposing a toast to the Guardians of the Multiverse before the battle begins, T'Challa steps forward and helps Strange out.
- In the fight against Infinity Ultron, he plays a key part by helping his teammates steal the Soul Stone and stall for time.
- Upon witnessing the artificial intelligence go down and Prince Killmonger seize the Infinity Stones, T'Challa warns his cousin on using the stones for selfish purposes and tries talking him down.
- Prepared to fight against Killmonger with the rest of his teammates.
- Overall, T'Challa has done numerous benevolent deeds and is extremely charming, charismatic, and caring, and everything he does serves to lighten the story.
