Shanks (シャンクス Shankusu) Red-Haired Shanks is the overarching protagonist of the manga and anime series, One Piece.

He is voiced by Shūichi Ikeda as an adult and Nobunaga Shimazaki as a child in the Japanese version. In the Live-action version, he was portrayed by Peter Gadiot.

What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]

  • While serving as a member of Gol D. Roger's crew, Shanks leapt into the water and saved Buggy when he fell into the water after accidentally eating a Devil Fruit and being deprived of his ability to swim.
  • When Buggy fell ill, Shanks decided to remain behind instead of accompanying the rest of Gol D. Roger's crew to Laugh's Tale, which held the legendary One Piece.
  • He saved Utah’s life when she was abducted and adopted her as his own.
  • He allowed a group of bandits to go peacefully, even after the bandits spilled booze and threw food on him.
  • He protected Luffy from the Lord of the Coast at the cost of his arm.
  • After losing his arm, he told the young Luffy he was not upset about the loss of his arm. He also thanked Luffy for standing up for him.
  • He entrusted the young Luffy with his treasured Straw Hat.
  • He believed in Luffy’s dream of becoming King of the Pirates.
  • He warns Whitebeard about Blackbeard’s power.
  • He praised Koby for his bravery, despite him being a Marine and technically his enemy.
  • He took the corpses of Whitebeard and Ace to ensure they received proper burials and funerals.
  • He arrived at moment to save the Wano warriors and Straw Hat Pirates from Ryokugyu
  • After taking Marco back to his homeland, he offers him a place on his crew, which Marco declined kindly.
