~ Sans introducing himself. |
Sans the Skeleton is the tritagonist of the indie-game Undertale. He serves as a major character in the Neutral Route (serving as the tritagonist or major character depending on your actions), the tritagonist of the True Pacifist Route, and the main antagonist of the Genocide Route.
He is a skeleton and the big brother of Papyrus. He is somewhat lazy, as he doesn't really help his brother capture Frisk and often sleeps on his post. That said, there is more to him than meets the eye, as he hides deep power and knowledge about the world he lives in, which leaves him a depressed nihilist due to knowing everything and everyone he knows will just get erased and sent back to zero.
What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]
- He is a funny and nice guy who loves making puns and is friendly to almost everyone.
- He is one of the very few monsters who does not try to attack or kill Frisk when he first meets them. In fact, he treats them like an old friend just mere moments after meeting them.
- Because of his knowledge of the RESETs, he is gloomy about life, yet he is never pessimistic toward the people he loves, like Papyrus and Toriel, and he really enjoys being with them.
- Despite his apathy, he is well-liked by the patrons of Grillby's and the Royal Guard dogs, demonstrating his kindness and sociability.
- He invites Frisk to Grillby's and treats them to some burgers or fries.
- He performs at the MTT Route as a comedian, showing that he likes to make others laugh.
- Despite his hatred for Frisk if they kill Papyrus or other monsters should they do so, he will only call you a "dirty brother killer," inquire as to why you killed Papyrus, and then leave you alone unless you threaten to destroy the entire world.
- He resents making promises, but only because he is concerned that he will ultimately break them. This is shown at the Genocide Route's conclusion. Also, it is hinted that he would have maintained a promise if nothing else was RESET because his "promise" is meaningless because everything will be reset anyhow.
- Wants Frisk to be a kind person since he calmly criticizes them when they kill monsters and praises them when they don't.
- He shares a home with Toriel in the Exiled Queen Ending so that she is not left alone.
- If Frisk kills Papyrus but not Toriel, he chooses not to tell her about Frisk killing Papyrus, knowing she'd be upset from unknowingly protecting someone who'd do such a thing.
- He and his brother Papyrus attempt keep the Underground under control in the King Papyrus Ending.
- He encourages you while you fight Asriel Dreemurr.
- In the Genocide Route, he battles the genocidal protagonist in the knowledge that if they advance to LV 20 and cross the Barrier, the world will be destroyed. This is his most heroic act. In order to get them to give up the fight out of anger, he even goes so far as to remain motionless and do nothing during his turn.
- It's heavily implied by Flowey that he and Sans fought multiple times, and that Sans often convinced the flower to RESET, showing he has been protecting timelines long before Frisk showed up.
