Perseus "Percy" Jackson is the titular protagonist of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series by Rick Riordan, one of the main characters in it's sequel book series The Heroes of Olympus, a supporting character in the second sequel series The Trials of Apollo and a guest character in Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.

What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]

  • Rick Riordan came up with Percy's character as a bedtime story for his son Haley. The reason why Percy is diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia in the books is because Haley was diagnosed with those same disabilities as a kid.[1] Rick published the books because he wanted kids who struggled with reading and schoolwork to have a book hero they can look up to.
  • The books written from his perspective have a distinct sense of humor and sarcasm to them. Percy often comments on the absurdity of the situations he's trust into in a way that lightens the mood. Even the original Greek myths are given this treatment in Percy Jackson's Greek Gods and Greek Heroes.
  • He is shown to be very selfless and humble. When in possession of very powerful objects (such as Zeus' Master Bolt), he didn't once think of using that power for his own benefit. He often speaks of himself in lowly terms despite how much he's accomplished.
  • He helped defend Grover from bullies in school.
  • While originally rude to his brother Tyson, by the end of The Sea of Monsters, he learns to accept and love Tyson as his brother.
  • In The Titan's Curse, he encouraged Annabeth to make ammends with her father Frederick, which helped mend the wounds of that family dynamic.
  • After learning how Hercules was arrogant towards Zoë, he works to show to Zoë that not all half-bloods are arrogant by his good behaviour. Zoë then changes her low opinion of half-bloods.
  • In Battle of the Labyrinth, he invited Nico to his birthday party after realizing that Nico had probably never been invited to anyone's birthday before.
  • In The Demigod Files ("The Sword of Hades"), Melinoe tries to guilt-trip him with friends he watched die, but fails as Percy made peace with them.
  • After his nemesis Luke Castellan died in The Last Olympian, he requested that the gods give Luke a burial shroud and a hero's funeral.
  • He declined the gods' offer to make him a god after the end of the Titan War, because he wanted to value the life he had. Instead, he made the gods swear that every god will have a cabin for their children at Camp Half-Blood, so that a rebellion like Luke's wouldn't happen again.
  • Even after losing most of his memories in The Son of Neptune, he still remembers the name of his girlfiriend Annabeth.
  • He saved Ella the harpy from the abusive Phineas, bringing her to Camp Jupiter where she'll be safe and loved.
  • In The Mark of Athena, he grabs onto Annabeth's arm to stop her from falling into Tartarus, and when that fails, he falls into Tartarus with her in his arms.
  • In The House of Hades, he meets an anmesiac Iapetus/"Bob" when in Tartarus. He is still willing to help "Bob" even when the latter gets his memories back and remembers the time he fought Percy.
  • In The Last Olympian, he is willing to negotiate with Kymopoleia despite her wanting him dead.
  • In The Hidden Oracle, he and his mother Sally drove Apollo to Camp Half-Blood.
  • He helps defend Camp Half-Blood against the Colossus Neronis.
  • He and Annabeth help Magnus Chase in The Ship of the Dead.
  • Hades in The Sun and the Star explains that Percy's actions caused him to be less callous in the way he treats half-bloods.
