Papyrus is one of the main characters in Undertale and the deuteragonist of the game's pacifist route. He is an anthropomorphic skeleton and the younger brother of Sans. He has shown himself to be a very kind-hearted individual despite his introduction initially portraying the opposite. With him wanting to capture humans out of a want to join the Royal Guard in order to gain recognition and friendship.

What Makes Him a Love Exalted?

• Despite portraying himself as a self-entitled narcissist at first, it is after sparing him in his battle that he shows his true colors, that being of a selfless, kindhearted skeleton who is simply looking for a friend.
• Despite making the misconception that the human is madly in love with him, instead of basking in the praise, he instead shows concern, and then proceeds to respectfully turn them down.
• Helps the player befriend Undyne by organizing a hangout and then using subtle manipulation tactics to get Undyne to give them a shot.
• His kind hearted nature has shown to clearly rub off on others, with characters such as Undyne being shown to be very protective of him.
• After the player's date with Alphys, Papyrus proceeds to call them and tells them to go check on Alphys out of concern for her.
• Upon Flowey revealing his true colors, Papyrus is one of the characters who cheers the player on and encourages them to keep going.
• Even when he dies on the Neutral Route, he instead chooses to look at the situation with optimism, with him saying the he at the very least, still has his head.
• He confronts the player when they're on the genocide run, and chooses to spare them, hoping that kindness could get them to turn around and abandon their genocidal ways
• Even when he is on his last legs on the genocide run, he still chooses to believe in the player, and that they can be a better person, even if they don't think so.

• Papyrus, alongside his brother Sans, is one of two Undertale characters to be a Love Exalted.
