Michael "Mike" Wazowski is one of the two main protagonists (alongside James P. Sullivan) of the Disney/Pixar Monsters, Inc. franchise. He is the deuteragonist of Monsters, Inc., the main protagonist of its 2013 prequel Monsters University and one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside James P. Sullivan) of the Disney+ animated series Monsters at Work.
He is the best friend and former rival of Sulley, former friend and current enemy of Randall Boggs, and Celia MaeCelia's love interest.
He was voiced by Billy Crystal in both films, and Noah Johnston as a child in the prequel.
What makes Him Love Exalted[]
Monsters University[]
- He tried to boost Oozma Kappa's confidence of winning the Scare Games by taking them to the factory of Monsters, Inc., showing them that they can use their non-scary looking appearances to their advantage, even if they don't look like the scarers you'd expect.
- He expressed tons of remorse over being so much of an arrogant jerk to the members of Oozma Kappa.
- He helps Oozma Kappa any way he can in the games, and despite their level of incompetence, he never gave up on them.
- After he learns how insecure Sulley is, he helps and encourages him, which allowed him to scare the human adults, as well as motivates him to be more true to himself rather than acting like a Sullivan, in other words, how he thinks others expect him to act, meaning he played a notable part in his positive character development.
- He is grateful for Sulley's words of encouragement when they're about to leave Monsters University.
- Despite their initial rivalry, he and Sulley became friends for the rest of their lives.
- After he learned how Sulley is very insecure, he encourages and helps him, which allowed him to scare the adult humans, as well as motivating Sulley to be truer to how he wants to act rather than acting like how he thinks others would expect him to act like.
- He comes up with a clever plan to generate enough scare power from the other side of the door after he and Sully were trapped in the human world due to the monsters turning off the power to the door.
Monsters, Inc.[]
- He wasn't upset they cut off his face on TV, despite being an egotist.
- He cares and loves his girlfriend, Celia, and wants to take her to the best restaurant in town.
- He thanks Sully for hooking him up with reservations to Harryhausens.
- When Celia is taken away by members of the CDA, he attempts to help her, but is dragged away by Sulley so they wouldn't be quarantined.
- Despite initially refusing to help Sulley, he eventually follows him back to Monsters, Inc. and even indirectly saves his life by revealing Randall's location him when he throws a snowball at him. Mike also apologizes for not having gone with him earlier, saying to Sulley that there was nothing more important than their friendship.
- He helps fight Randall in the doors room.
- After Waternoose is tricked in thinking Boo was in the bed, Mike records his confession and exposes him as the obsessed kidnapper he is.
- Though not initially interested in her, he learned to care for Boo too. When they're about to return Boo home, he gives her a handshake, and when she responds with a hug, he reciprocates the embrace.
- He helped defeat Randall in the door scene.
- In the climax, he tricked the CDA into thinking he had Boo and tricked Waternoose at the end of the film by exposing his plan to the CDA. Though not initially interested in her, he learned to care for Boo too.
- When they're about to return Boo home, he gives her a handshake, and when she responds with a hug, he reciprocates the embrace.
- When Sulley is saddened that he won't see Boo again and Monsters, Inc. is now shut down, Mike comforts Sulley by telling him that they finished their goal.
- He rebuilt Boo's door so that Sulley could see her one more time.
- Discovered that laugh energy (which is 10 times more powerful than screams) could be obtained without scaring the children but making them laugh instead.
- While he tried to send Boo home in selfish ways, he subverted this trait which doesn't detract from how guile he is.
Monsters At Work[]
- After the transition to laugh power, he becomes Monsters, Inc's top employee and plays a big part in keeping them afloat even when they're struggling to find more jokesters, to the point that in one episode, he runs himself ragged working 18 hours straight.
- His first action as Vice-CEO of Monsters, Inc. is promoting Celia to floor supervisor.
- He creates a comedy class for scarers to become jokesters.
- He and Sulley forgave the members of M.I.F.T. for almost getting Monsters, Inc. shut down due to their bumbling reckless behavior.
- He and Sulley took care of Snore, whom of which was an infant, while M.I.F.T. repaired the damage to the baby's room, and Mike eventually grew attached to the child, reluctantly returning him/her home.
- He promoted Tyler to a jokester in the finale of season 1 after looking up to his persistence and played a big part in helping Monsters, Inc. generate 1 million gigglewatts in 1 whole day to save the company from being shut down.
