What Makes Them Likeable	Determined to reunite with Gru, he came up with the idea to build a ship so that the Minions could escape from prison. He and the other Minions popped Balthazar Bratt's bubble gum before it could send Hollywood into space. He became a Mega Minion and helped defeat Maxime Le Mal.
"Hate to Love" Factors	He wanted Gru to only do villainy after he got fired from the AVL and was unable to accept that he won't, convincing the other Minions to revolt against him.

Mel is a major character in Despicable Me 3 and a supporting character in its sequel Despicable Me 4.

He's the leader of the Minions and one of Gru's most trusted Minions and son-like figure.

He's voiced by the same actor and director Pierre Coffin as the other Minions.

What Makes Him Love Exalted?

• He is shown to have had a nice relationship with both Gru and Dr. Nefario in flashback scenes.
• While in prison, he came to miss Gru despite abandoning him with most of the Minions after Gru refused to return to villainy, and came up with the idea for the Minions to escape prison by building a ship.
• When Gru, Dru and Lucy fly past the Minions' ship in the sky, Mel orders the ship to follow them, showing his desire to reconcile with Gru.
• He and the other Minions worked together to pop Balthazar Bratt's bubble gum that was about to launch Hollywood into space, saving thousands of lives in the process.
• He and Gru have a warm reconciliation after Bratt is defeated and the bubble gum is popped.
• He remains obedient and affable towards his masters Gru and Dru despite going back to villainy with Dru.
• In Despicable Me 4, he becomes a Mega Minion and helps defeat Maxime Le Mal, subverting his On & Off status for good and staying a hero.
