Maka Albarn is the main protagonist of the Soul Eater anime/manga series. She's an honorable, disciplined, and strong-willed student at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) who wields Soul as her scythe.
She is voiced by Chiaki Omigawa in the Japanese version and Laura Bailey in the English version (who also voices Blaze the Cat from Sonic Rush and Chun-Li from Street Fighter).
What Makes Her Love Exalted?[]
Both Versions[]
- Generally, she's a very honorable, determined, and studious girl who strongly dedicates to the DWMA to keep the world in harmony from the kishin.
- Does what she can to help other people beyond just what the DWMA asks of her to do, proven when Maka is in Italy with Soul, she senses souls that Crona and Ragnarok endanger and killed; she goes in to stop and fight them despite not having to.
- She's very considerate of other people's feelings, especially Crona's feelings.
- Goes to great lengths to empathize with Crona by connecting to them through their soul wavelength, which has been mainly out of reach to most people. Ultimately, Maka redeems them, which marks a significant defeat for Crona's abusive and manipulative mother, Medusa.
- Gives Crona a tour of the academy once Lord Death decides that they should be enrolled, making them an excellent ally for the academy.
- She risks her life in the magnetic field to save Stein and Marie's lives, who would've been stuck there forever had the two been in the field for longer than 20 minutes.
Anime[]
- Looks all over the academy for Crona after having found out that they went missing, and once they're found and brought back, she immediately comes to Crona's defence. She fiercely argues for forgiving their rule violation and not expelling Crona.
- Rescues her partner Soul from being corrupted by the little ogre that attempted to consume Soul with madness and make him eat human souls and go down a much darker path.
- Defeats the kishin Asura by overcoming her fears with her bravery and strong will, making Asura less powerful as it feeds off of people's fear and insanity.
Manga[]
- Attempts to convince Crona to rejoin the DWMA when in a fight against them, showing that she hadn't stopped caring about Crona even after their betrayal.
- Directly attacks Asura so she can save Crona's life, and after having treated them with such kindness, even after she would've had good reason not to. Crona sacrifices themselves by imprisoning themselves with Asura on the black moon, with one of those reasons being their bond with Maka.
