“ | I'm not saying I don't remember your blade. I'm saying I don't remember your heart. When you cross blades, you can tell a little of what your opponent's thinking. I'm not saying you can read their mind or anything like that, but you can tell what kind of resolve lies behind their blade, whether they respect you or look down on you. That kind of thing, you can tell. When I'm actually fighting, there's no time to think about it, so I don't usually realize until afterwards, but in general, the stronger the opponent is, the more of that "heart" seems to come across. | „ |

“ | Zangetsu, I won't ask you to 'lend me your power' any more. And I won't tell you 'don't get in my way'. I won't even say 'let us fight together'. I'll fight for myself. Thank you, Zangetsu. You are me. | „ |

What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]
- He is always prepared to risk his life to save those he cares about.
- He saved Rukia from being executed.
- He defeats Sōsuke Aizen.
- He uses his powers for good.
- After defeating Grimmjow, he grabs Grimmjow's wrist to prevent the unconscious Arrancar from falling down before gently placing his body on the ground.
- Despite Nel having gotten mucus on his shirt (comically), Ichigo quickly forgave Nel.
- Ichigo defends Grimmjow from Nnoitra Gilga, who tried to kill Grimmjow after attacking him.
- In the movie The Diamond Dust Rebellion, he often helped Tōshirō Hitsugaya with his issues regarding his dark past:
- Upon seeing an unconscious Tōshirō, Ichigo immediately ran to check up on him after noticing that he collapsed. He brought him to his house to tend to his wounds and shelter him for the time being.
- After hearing about Sōjirō Kusaka, Ichigo and his friends decide to put all of their efforts into proving Tōshirō's innocence after the captain of Squad 10 was framed for certain crimes committed by Sōjirō Kusaka (former friend-turned-rival).
- Expressed shock upon reading Kusaka's memories of his duel with Tōshirō in the past.
- Just as Tōshirō was about to be arrested by the Gōtei 13 on Sōkyoku Hill, Ichigo immediately used his Getsuga Tenshō to stop them from getting to Hitsugaya (without injuring or killing them). He and Rukia then fly down from the portal opened by Kisuke Urahara before he tells everyone to stop their attempts in arresting Hitsugaya, calling them out for the persecution of the innocent and their allies whenever someone issues an order to do so. He even got into a dispute with Soi-Fon, ready to defend Hitsugaya in the case that they attacked him and Hitsugaya had it not been for Genryūsai Yamamoto's arrival and orders for the entire Gōtei 13 to stop.
- Reasons with Tōshirō to stop keeping his issues to himself and to start letting his friends help him. When Tōshirō simply states that he is no longer a captain, Ichigo punched him not out of hatred or selfishness but rather, as a way to snap Tōshirō out of his unwillingness to communicate his issues with other people, citing his past as a reference (when Ichigo was younger, he did exactly what Tōshirō did: refusing to communicate his emotions and issues with his family, causing them to be worried sick so much that they found him by the riverside one day, continuing to bottle up his emotions. When Ichigo smiled in front of his family in order to not worry them, their hearts were broken, causing them to tear up as Yuzu and Karin cried before running to their father's arms for comfort. Isshin kindly reasoned with Ichigo that although trying to put up a strong appearance is one thing, not sharing any of his emotions nor hardships with his family is another thing as it could lead to the entire family feeling lonely. As a result, Ichigo ran to his father's arms to cry alongside his siblings, turning him into the person he is today). Ichigo even states that doing so would only make his comrades worry for him.
- Ichigo, along with Rukia, Ikkaku Madarame, Yumichika Ayasegawa, Rangiku Matsumoto, and Renji Abarai, all smiled for Tōshirō, ready to assist him in his quest to stop Kusaka from destroying Soul Society.
- After Kusaka's empowered form was destroyed, Ichigo kindly cues Hitsugaya to continue his duel with Kusaka.
- After Kusaka's death and the materialization of the Ouin, Ichigo picks it up before consoling Hitsugaya about his friend, Kusaka. Ichigo then tosses Hitsugaya the Ouin before kindly signaling for them to return to where everyone is.
- After defeating Aizen, Ichigo expresses pity for Aizen upon learning of the former Captain of Squad 5's loneliness during the time he was ostracized as a child. Despite Aizen's crimes and cruelty, Ichigo felt that that was the reason why Aizen became the monster he is in the present.
- Despite Kūgo Ginjō having psychologically hurt Ichigo, the latter decides to return to Soul Society in order to request that the Gōtei 13 allow him to take Ginjō's corpse to the World of the Living so that he could bury it there. Despite the initial hesitance of the Gōtei 13 due to Ginjō's past crimes, they eventually allow Ichigo to take his corpse and bury it in the World of the Living.
