What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]
- He is friendly and down-to-earth and harbours no resentment towards anyone, he gets along with every angry bird.
- Despite being a bird, Hal rarely engage in the conflict with the pigs as he is a pacifist and he prefers to go on adventures.
- One of the only times he decided to fight was when he and terence saved the birds after they were captured and caged by the pigs.
- He is shown to have a deep love for the pleasures in life, as when he is found he is usually with his banjo or camping.
- He lacks the overprotectiveness of Red, the cruelty and sadism of Terence and the arrogance of Chuck and has no hateable qualities in general
- In an illustration, he is seen singing in a campfire with a cowboy pig, proving that he isn’t a xenophobe like most of the birds.
- He cares for and nurtures the blues, acting as father figure to them.
- Acts a “bridge” by using his body to fill a gap between two mountains, allowing the blues to cross despite being in clear pain.
- In the same comic strip, he uses his beak to protect them from the rain and even swims with them on him, acting a “boat” for them.
- although he was depicted as angry in the summer pignic short, it was completely justifed as the pigs were trying to steal eggs and he had to protect them, not to mention hal is noticeable younger in this short.
