Diaz is a major character in the 2015 Cartoon Network original series, We Bare Bears, and is a supporting character its 2020 series finale film, We Bare Bears: The Movie. Like her fellow Poppy Rangers, Diaz is a brave and adventurous little girl scout/troop and park ranger who has a close friendship with Ranger Tabes and the Bears, more especially Grizzly.
Diaz shows high commitment to her aforementioned fellow Poppy Rangers, but Diaz is described as more curious and entertaining, meaning that she is prone to asking too much questions and/or dwells in seeking for truth, but has a high sense of humor and entertainment. Outside of her career as a park ranger like Ranger Tabes, Diaz is typically seen casually playing with the other Poppy Rangers and having fun, more especially by having tissue and pillow fights and/or flying kites with the other Poppy Rangers, demonstrated in Hurricane Hal.
Diaz is voiced by Marissa Soto.
What Makes Her Love Exalted?[]
- Diaz is an overall supportive, honorable, affable, loyal and adorable girl who benefits other people in numerous situations, showing high loyalty towards her fellow Poppy Rangers and more especially, Ranger Tabes and Grizz Bear. Additionally, Diaz's characteristics of loyalty, energy, selflessness and as a voice of reason appeals to the audience.
- Diaz is eager to follow all of Ranger Tabes and Grizzly's commands, even if they are too risky.
- To further contribute to this, Diaz went as far as eating poisoned green/lime berries from Grizz's hands while the latter, Diaz and the other Poppies hunt for food while Ranger Tabes sets off to get their forgotten lunch, despite Diaz being initially reluctant on it and Wallace attempting to prevent Grizz from feeding Diaz such, which caused her to vomit upon the aftermath of eating those berries instead of the green berries.
- Although not to the extent of Parker and Murphy, Diaz does not show too much of a significant grudge against Grizz for his incompetence/inconsistency in his heroism, rather reassuring him that he will succeed next time, and was remorseful for being dismissive of Grizz's lack of skill in the annual Peewee Ranger Games and is the first of the Poppies to apologize for being blunt towards him for losing to the Ivy Rangers.
- While Nguyen and Wallace prepare a fire extinguisher in case of assuming that Grizz would cause another fire, like how he accidentally managed to do so back in the flashbacks of attaining the rest of the other Poppy Badges, Diaz is grateful for Grizz assisting to start the campfire while she, Grizz and the Poppies prepare for camping to attain the Island Camping Badge. This means that Diaz is thankful of Grizz's assist to her and the Poppies, and she does not show grudge for Grizz causing accidental fires while attaining other Poppy Badges, such as the Forest, Desert and Underwater Camping Badges.
- Diaz has a huge friendship towards Grizz Bear, even though she was astonished to encounter him for the first time, similar to Chloe's interaction with the three bears for the first time. Additionally, Diaz even refers him as "Bear Guy," "Mr. Bear Guy" or at least "Mr. Bear" rather than just a traditional bear animal by basically calling him "Bear," which references Grizz and his fellow bear brothers' philanthropic interaction with the human race.
- Alongside the other Poppies, Diaz saved Wallace from Hurricane Hal, even if it endangered herself. Additionally, Diaz was the one to offer Grizz his kite to save Wallace from the aforementioned Hurricane Hal.
- Diaz is a voice of pure reason in several occasions:
- When Ranger Tabes encourages Diaz and the other Poppies to explore the dark cave for the badge, Diaz and the other Poppies were reluctant on it and tried to reason with her, fearing the danger they will get themselves into (and sided with Grizz in deciding to take the safer route of the cave), such as being eventually stranded in the cave, and Ranger Tabes felt insecure when they did get stranded, but Diaz encouraged her that she is still an excellent forest ranger, motivating Tabes into optimism and getting herself, Grizz, Nguyen and the other Poppy Rangers out of the cave.
- After Grizz stopped the Ranger War in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, Diaz was reluctant on eating Grizz, even though she and the other Poppies kidnapped him in the first place to do so, but this was out of immense starvation, and even Grizz himself allowed Diaz and the Poppies to devour him in order to keep them alive.
- Despite being dismissive of Grizz and his incompetence in the annual Ranger Games, Diaz eventually motivates and encourage him to defeat the Ivy Rangers (and feels remorseful of dismissing Grizz and his initial lack of skill in the annual game), more especially through cheerleading, in which Grizz reforms his incompetence because of Diaz and the Poppies' positive influence, and that sentiment would go on over the course of the entire series thanks to Diaz and the other Poppies' positive influence to Grizz.
- Diaz, alongside the other Poppy Rangers and their fellow commander, Ranger Tabes, assisted Grizz Bear, Ice Bear and Panda Bear in defeating Agent Trout, leading to his well-deserved imprisonment and preventing Trout from unlawfully capturing and torturing the three Bears. After Trout's incarceration, Diaz and the other Poppies gratefully reunite with Grizz, even despite all of the chaotic scenarios Grizz had put her and the Poppies through, such as the events of Lord of the Poppies.
