Dante is the main protagonist of the Devil May Cry franchise.
In the Japanese version and most of his appearances, he is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, who also voiced Minato Namikaze in Naruto. In Sengoku Basara vs. Devil May Cry he was voiced by Hiroki Suzuki. In The Live Hacker he was voiced by Ryōma Baba. In the English version, as of the third game, he is voiced by Reuben Langdon. He has also been voiced by Drew Coombs in the first game and the first Viewtiful Joe installment, Jonathan Mallen in the first game when he was younger, Matthew Kaminsky in Devil May Cry 2, and Patrick Seymour in the English version of Pinnacle of Combat. His motion capture actor was Kenji Hata in the first game.

- Despite her betrayal, he is saddened by Trish's death.
- Defeat Mundus, avenging his parents and putting an end to Mundus' tyranny.

- Goes into the demon realm to close the portal even though he may never be able to escape.
The Animated Series[]
- When he gets a job to look after a little girl named Patty, he chooses to spend time with her and buy her ice cream.
Devil May Cry 4[]
- Disrupts a ceremony and executes Sanctus, whom is later revealed to power hungry tyrant who's plotting on unleashing the demon world to gain absolute power.
- He saves his nephew Nero from Sanctus.
Devil May Cry 5[]
- He stops Urizen from killing Nero.
- When he reveals to Nero that Vergil is his father, he tells him to go home as he shouldn't kill his own father.
- Reconciles with Vergil and enter the demon realm to fight off the demons.
