What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]

  • Despite, or perhaps because of, being very dim-witted, he comes across as very lovable and overall has a sweet demeanor to everyone in the bar.
  • He treats everyone with kindness and general respect.
  • He was there for Sam when the latter became an alcoholic, helping him recover and become sober. When Sam relapsed into drinking after he and Diane broke up, Coach never gave up and stuck by Sam's side.
  • He loves his daughter so much that he becomes concerned when she starts dating and gets engaged to a jerk like Roy, only tolerating him because she told him that she wants a family.
  • When faced with the knowledge that his old friend T-Bone made a pass at his wife, he is initially very angry and aimed to slander T-Bone at the latter's memorial. But he then decides to bury the grudge and remember him for the good things he did despite being a flawed person.
  • He helps Sam study for his Geography test by singing a catchy earwormy rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In" but with the lyrics changed to be about geographical locations, like Albania. This ultimately helps Sam graduate High School and get a diploma.
