Alex the Lion, or commonly known as Alex, is the main protagonist in the Madagascar franchise. He is the "King of New York", and is best friends with Marty, Gloria, and Melman.
His birth name is Alakay and was born in Africa, having a father and mother named Zuba and Florrie, the leaders of their pride. One day, Zuba tried to teach him how to fight, but Alakay instead wanted to dance. When Makunga and Zuba battle each other to see who has would the title of Alpha Lion, Alakay went away and got captured by poachers, placing him in a crate in their truck and drove away. His father tried to recuse him but then gets shot in the ear, watching the truck go away. The crate that Alakay ends up falling out of the truck and lands in the ocean and gets swept away. After those long travels in the ocean, Alakay is found by the Central Zoo Park, and gets renamed at Alex.
What Makes Him Love Exalted?[]
- While Alex had more corrupting factors in the first film, he subverts most of those traits.
- He saves his friends multiple times in many situations in all of the films.
- He apologizes to his friends for being a jerk and joins Marty on the fun side of the island.
- He felt remorse from nearly hurting his friends due to his feral state.
- He saved Marty, Gloria, and Melman from the lemurs from the Fossa.
- He saved his father Zuba from distracting them by dancing so his father wouldn't get shot.
- He helps gives the animals in Africa their water by defeating Nana, who was unclogging the dam that blocked all of the water for the animals, also defeating Makunga, with also Nana beating him.
- He apologizes to Marty after not realizing that his problems are just as important as his own problems.
- He helps the animals in the circus by making their circus more entertained.
- His only reason for lying to the circus animals was only because to save his friends and himself.
- He defeats Chantel DuBois so her animal poaching can be stopped once and for all.
- He decides to live in the circus with friends and not at New York anymore, living a happy life.
